This work was written during a short romance I had decades ago.
The boundaries were set at the start.
Within these borders it became boundless.
The love you have when you can’t fall in love.
Available separately, numbered edition of six, variable sizes, dye sublimation prints on brushed Aluminium.
The first state of this work was exhibited as archival prints on canvas, at Doggett Street Studio in 2007.
when I lie with you the world is at peace
I want to climb inside and mix with your blood
my bones absord the flavour of your tongue
who are we to judge each others dreams?
why am I always the first to look away?
you slap my face with impermanence
I envy your ability to untrouble the air
as you leave I'm stopped in mid sentence
I want to be with you so I can watch us bleed
if we lie silent, can we halt time?
we have been spared familiarity
I am a gambler, we are a terrible match
I watch our fingers as the end seeps through
when the bubble burst it smelt of your lungs
we tied the ending tightly
as if we had never parted as if we had never met
I will search for your print on another's hand
we never wound the timeless watch
you tucked me into my coma
bury me in this small broken dream
we left each other's doors ajar
reminded of you, I smile and turn inside
